Today, Tuesday, Nov. 3, is the 2026 midterm general election. Polls close at 8 p.m. in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware. New Jersey has a U.S. Senate race and all 12 House seats on the ballot. Pennsylvania is electing a governor, and Delaware has a U.S. Senate race, according to state election officials and NBC10.

There’s genuinely no reason why you haven’t voted. It’s your duty (and literally your right) to go out and make your voice heard.

“It’s just the midterms”

No, midterms don’t get real Election Year hype, but they decide who represents you in Congress, and that will affect the Presidency come 2028. These guys will write the federal laws, control congressional committees, and has the power to investigate or hold the President accountable.

Your future doesn’t only get decided every four years. A lot can happen in two.

“I don’t know where to go”

This is a problem with a solution, not a reason to sit out. You can look up your polling location here. You don’t have to figure it out alone, that’s the beauty of the Internet: to look stuff up.

If you can find a coffee shop, a concert venue, or your nearest Target, you can find a polling location.

“I forgot to mail my ballot”

Forgetting to mail your ballot doesn’t mean you missed your opportunity to vote. Depending on your state’s rules, you may be able to drop it off at an official ballot drop box, deliver it to your county election office, or vote in person.

Don’t assume it’s over without checking all your options.

“My vote doesn’t matter”

I’m sorry but this is truly the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. Your vote is one of the building blocks of an election. Congressional races, state legislative races, and local elections can be decided by surprisingly small margins.

Even when your preferred candidate doesn’t win, voting helps determine the margin, it sends a message about what voters care about, and shapes the political environment candidates must respond to.

Your vote might feel like one drop in the ocean, but elections are decided by individual votes, not hypothetical ones.

At the same time…

Listen, political fatigue is real and it’s okay to genuinely block our all the political texts and ads and such. Voting is one part that actually counts, so make sure you get out today if you didn’t vote early.
